Review

The Carolina Forest area near Hwy 501 has seen a fair amount of restaurants in the past few years and really only the chains have survived and done well. One such chain that did not make it was Max & Erma's. I always liked the design of the bar area there and I was glad to see it is pretty much the same when a smaller chain; Sam Snead's Oak Grill & Tavern moved into that space. There used to be a Sam Snead's location in Restaurant Row, but that has been gone for since about 2006. This new Sam Snead's is trying to capitalize on filling a void in the Carolina Forest area with a little more upscale dining. That means some menu items have a more upscale price, but there is a reprieve in some really good discounts on apps at Happy Hour to go along with some decently slashed drink prices. You can tell Sam Snead's is going for more of a dinner crowd and it is a nice place for golfers, but it also provides another very strong Happy Hour to Carolina Forest.
