The Coastal Ale House is a decent bar to go to, if you can find it that is. It is tucked away a little bit off Hwy 501 surrounded by doctors buildings and offices. Since this bar is so hidden there are mostly locals and CCU students in the bar for Happy Hour and almost exclusively students at night time. Every time I go to the Coastal Ale House, the prices seem to creep up. That will never score high points for me or anyone else for that matter. The setting is nice enough with an expansive bar inside and a patio for when the weather is nice or if the bar is too crowded which can be the case on a Friday Happy Hour. The many choices of drafts will also always get on my good side. This is as good of a Happy Hour that you will find with apps and almost all drinks half off making up for the high prices in some areas. Coastal Ale House is a great spot if you are stuck in 501 traffic and just want to relax somewhere it clears and is also a popular spot among the Coastal Carolina students later on in the evening since the pickings are slim.
