My family had decided to come down for a weekend this spring and I was supposed to check out a few resorts to see which would be best for them. I came upon the Ocean Reef and was walking around until I saw a sign for Happy Hour and I can never pass that up, so I stepped into the Banana Boat Lounge. Being the end of December, it wasn't the ideal time to be checking out the place but the place is your basic bar with access to one of the many pools at the Ocean Reef. There are no bottled beers there since it is by the pool, so if you don't like draft or can beer then you might be disappointed. Not much stands out about the Banana Boat Lounge, but I do have to give them props having some decent weekly specials and some ok discounts on the drinks. The menu was a bit limited as anything you order is from the Cafe Du Port. If you are staying in the area then this is a good place for a later Happy Hour, but don't expect anything more than your standard hotel bar.
